Staring At The Stars

about

Following on from DATAStream's 'Social Experiment', the team began testing the use of music to boost productivity in the workplace and as a means of significantly altering the listeners mood. The technicians became increasingly interested in 'muzak' and 'Staring At The Stars' was written to fill the void in DATAStream's increasingly upbeat back catalogue.

Early tests concluded that many listeners felt noticably diferent, with many experiencing strong feelings of sentimentality and longing.

Cheif Audio Engineer Martyn Stonehouse said at the time -

"I don't think many people expected us to bring this kind of sound to the public, though initial feedback has been positive, uptake on sales and subscriptions has been poor"

The lyrics for 'Staring At The Stars', recorded using DATAStream's proprietory vocoder technology are below.

lyrics

Do you, feel ashamed?
Staring at the stars, all your life.

And you, you're to blame.
Now your friends, have gone away.
